15 Street Performances Reflecting on Social, Political, and Economic Realities
From February 25 to March 1, 2023, Danseurs Citoyens Sud presented a series of 15 artistic performances across five regions in southern Tunisia—Gabes, Medenine, Djerba, Sfax, and Tataouine. Developed during an intensive bootcamp at the No Name Artistic Studio Lab in Gabes, the performances blended dance, theater, and music to reflect on Tunisia’s social, political, and economic landscape. Each location—ranging from No Name Studio and Matmata to 2 March Square in Gabes—was selected for its unique cultural and historical significance. By addressing themes of inclusion, unity, and acceptance, the performances sparked diverse audience reactions that revealed both the tensions and transformative potential of street art in public spaces.
