WADE into Activism Festival – Masterclass
On October 6, 2023, Danseurs Citoyens Sud hosted a panel discussion at its secondary venue in Jara, Gabes, exploring the intersection of art and climate justice. The event brought together artists and cultural practitioners to reflect on how creative expression can promote environmental awareness and safeguard cultural heritage.
Speakers included Ahmed Guerfel, who highlighted the role of cultural initiatives and artistic practices in connecting communities to climate justice struggles, Mohamed Amine Hamouda, who emphasized preserving Gabes’ Oasis culture through visual arts, and Bochra Taboubi, who presented her exhibition Cluster of Matter, focusing on the human–nature relationship. The discussion also shed light on Tunisia’s paleontological heritage, underscoring the power of art not only to inspire change but also to protect both the environment and cultural identity.
