Democratic Academy
As part of the MISAHAT Mukhtaraka (Common Grounds) program, Danseurs Citoyens Sud organized the Democratic Academy to foster civic dialogue and strengthen shared understanding among youth and civil society in southern Tunisia. The initiative brought together 15 civil society organizations from Sfax, Gabes, Medenine, Djerba, and Tataouine, along with 45 young participants, in a safe and inclusive space for reflection and exchange. Through interactive sessions, participants explored Tunisia’s social, cultural, economic, and political realities, learned about different models of democracy and their links to local governance, and discussed the mechanisms of the referendum process. The academy also introduced artistic advocacy tools, encouraged dialogue on human and individual rights, and hosted “Coffee Talk” sessions designed to nurture open, intergenerational conversations.
